Name: Water Pressure Zones

Display Field: ZONE

Type: Feature Layer

Geometry Type: esriGeometryPolygon

Description: Pressure zones are discrete sub-areas within the water system that have their own local hydraulic grade (HGL). HGL represents the water surface elevation that water would rise to if a tank is connected to the zone (HGL is not the ground elevation). Pressure varies throughout each pressure zone based on the local ground elevation.Pressure zone polygons indicate the customers that are served by each pressure zone, but not necessarily all the pipes and other facilities or assets associated with the pressure zone. It is common for piping from one pressure zone to pass through areas served by another pressure zone to connect customers to their needed pressure.A comprehensive system wide evaluation was conducted as part of the "2020 Pressure Zone Update Project" conducted in November 2021. This project was initiated to align with requirements with the Washington State Department of Health following an engineering analysis to address system deficiencies or to serve new development. Also addressed are risks where zones are confusing, obsolete, and/or inconsistent settings and names. The result of these edits is 73 distinct pressure zones for a total of 77 polygons. This includes one additional polygon for Beaux Arts jurisdiction and three zones with two polygons (BV400, HV1175, SS1000).
